Safe Space After School Program

School Year - 2022/2023

We are excited to announce, in partnership with John J. Duggan Academy, Van Sickle Academy, The Academy at Kiley & John. F. Kennedy Middle School, the Safe Space After School Program.  Our summer session was a hit, we are proud to expand our efforts into an after school program.  This is a twenty eight-week program focused on a holistic approach to learning. We will anchor our work in evidence-based social emotional learning strategies, while also allowing the youth a safe space to be during the 2022/23 school year. Our program will run on Mondays, Wednesdays &  Thursdays (only 3 days a week) from 3pm – 4:30pm running through June  15th 2023 on the campuses of Duggan, Van Sickle Academy, Kiley and Kennedy Middle Schools for current students in grades 6-8. We will have on-site enrichment activities, seminars, exposure to colleges, a couple of off-site experiential learning visits/field trips, meals will be provided and much more. This is a FREE and exclusive to students who attend Duggan, Van Sickle Academy, Kiley & Kennedy!

Our goal is to allow the youth of the community a safe environment to effectively communicate, build self-confidence, work on their social and emotional skills, develop healthy relationships and focus on community engagement. Reminder of our mission…“we walk together in a community-driven movement of support, inclusivity, and public recognition to remind our LGBTQIA+ youth that they are safe, they are loved, and they are not alone.”
